The Campaign

Find out about the Norfolk broadband campaign, what we want and how you can get involved

We aim to ensure Norfolk households and businesses have access to the broadband speeds they need to improve the county's competitive edge, matching if not exceeding national targets.

Funding Opportunities

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is offering funding for rural broadband projects in the East of England through the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). The funding scheme is known as Supporting Open Next Generation Broadband in Rural Districts (SONGBIRD).

The total funding from the RDPE available in the East of England for rural broadband projects is approximately £500,000. This funding is to assist the delivery of super-high speed broadband services into those rural areas which will otherwise remain unconnected to such services for the foreseeable future.

Deadlines for Expressions of Interest is 5pm on 13th September 2010.
Grants can be awarded at any time before 31st March 2013.

Shaping Norfolk's Future and Norfolk County Council wish to see as much of the money going to Norfolk projects as possible.
If you or your organisation/village are looking at submitting a bid then please contact the team for advice and to allow them to coordinate the bids in order to strengthen the chance of success

How you can get involved in our campaign

  •      Log on to EREBUS to enable EEDA to capture actual broadband speeds and map demand in Norfolk.

  •      Ensure that you sign up to any broadband pilots where appropriate – if Norfolk shows its businesses are actively engaged in broadband pilots there is a greater chance they will enable them here.

  •      Sign up to any lobbying campaigns to show Norfolk wants high-speed broadband.
