Rail

Research undertaken by Shaping Norfolk's Future amongst businesses has shown that the service and speed on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street line is inadequate and needs improving. The latest phase of the campaign is calling for the Greater Anglia rail franchise to include significant service improvements.

Our campaign is calling for the Greater Anglia rail franchise to include significant service improvements, in particular:

1          A ninety minute journey between Norwich and London

2          More reliable services, improving upon recent performance

3          New Inter-City style trains including features such as wi-fi

4          More train capacity - but without downgrading the Norwich to London service to commuter style carriages

Station improvements, including better car parking and facilities for waiting passengers

6           We will also be campaigning for other improvements including:

·      Cleanliness and comfort

On board facilities including wi-fi and catering

·      Measures introduced to reduce engineering disruption

·      Improvements to rural lines

Shaping Norfolk’s Future’s role

·      Launched campaign for rail improvements

·      Working with EEDA to develop the economic evidence study for the route

·      Coordinating lobbying

·      Organising meetings with Department for Transport and Network Rail
