North Norfolk

With around 45 miles of coastline, 81 conservation areas, and a rich architectural heritage, tourism is a major contributor to employment in the North Norfolk area, alongside a range of other small and medium-sized businesses.

The area has a diverse manufacturing industry, with 20 percent of the workforce employed in engineering, boatbuilding and the manufacture of plastic products

Agriculture, food processing and supply are also major employers; much of the district's land is given over to agriculture, which employs nearly 10 percent of the workforce.

The challenges to economic growth in the area includes issues such as improvements to the general and technological infrastructure.

The Virtual Business Support Project - saw laptops loaned to new business start-ups with free broadband connections, along with training in how to exploit new information and communication technologies.
